Holly Hughes to oppose the “kayak tax,” proposed by the Michigan State Waterways Commission, which would require all kayaks, canoes and paddle boards to be registered with the state.Hughes, who chairs the committee, said families should not be penalized just wanting to have fun in the water across the Great Lakes State.“Taxing good, clean fun is not okay with me. This ridiculous proposal will inhibit the growth of the paddle sport and tourism industries in Michigan,” said Hughes, of Montague. “I’m proud to lead the effort in opposing added annual costs for families.”The committee approved House Concurrent Resolution 22 with unanimous, bipartisan support.### Categories: Hughes Newscenter_img Tags: Kayak Tax last_img
