Kolkata: A youth, identified as Gourab Ruidas (23) from Kumrokhali in Narendrapur, was found dead beside the rail track on Wednesday. His family members alleged that his friends had killed him. On Saturday, Gourab’s mother Namita lodged a complaint with the Baruipur GRP police station against three of his friends.According to sources, on Wednesday, at around 3:30 pm, Ruidas along with his three friends — identified as Surajit Das, Akash Pailan and Dinesh Ram — went to visit a fair in Bishnupur. But when he did not return till night, Ruidas’ family tried to search for him by calling their other family members. When his friends were asked, they could not tell them anything. In the afternoon, Narendrapur police station came to know about an unidentified body which was found beside the railway tracks near Mathurapur station. Officials from Narendrapur asked Namita to come to the police station. Later, they were accompanied by an official to the morgue at the NRS Medical College and Hospital where the body was identified. Sleuths have interrogated Das, Pailan and Ram and found their statements to be contradictory. Das stated that after they deboarded from the train, they consumed alcohol and later went to the fair. In the evening, Gourab’s mobile phone accidentally slipped off his hand and fell on the tracks. He got down from the train at next station and went to search for his phone. But sleuths are not convinced. Though no arrests have been made, the cops are waiting for the autopsy report.
