Irish hospitals to start giving away old equipment

first_imgIRELAND IS PLANNING to send medical equipment it no longer uses to developing countries in Africa as part of a programme to help hospitals in need.According to the Medical Independent, the scheme will also see staff in those hospitals trained to use and maintain the equipment.A company in Shannon has donated a warehouse to the programme for storage.“This is equipment that doesn’t cost us a thing; the only cost is really shipping. The equipment is very close to going out. We don’t have a date yet but it could be in August,”Dr David Weakliam, lead of the HSE Global Health Programme and chair of Irish Forum for Global Health told journalist Bette Browne.The first countries to receive items will be Zambia and Uganda.Read more at The Medical Independentlast_img
