The President said that it is a joke to assume that one can win an election based on the support they had at a May Day rally. (Colombo Gazette) Sirisena says he was approached by the Indian High Commission saying Rajapaksa had sought a meeting with Modi. President Maithripala Sirisena said that the meeting between Modi and Rajapaksa took place at around 11pm last Thursday.He also said that some people feel they can change the current government and are using the crowd support the opposition had at the May Day rally to push this point. President Maithripala Sirisena today questioned the double standards of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa over his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.He said that those who had called for black flag protests during Modi’s Sri Lanka visit suddenly wanted to meet him. “I said go ahead,” Sirisena said at an event today.
