Top recruit Zachary Evans runs with the ball during a high school game.Earlier this week, Alabama landed a major commitment when offensive lineman Damieon George decided to take his talents to Tuscaloosa.George, a three-star recruit, was highly recruited and held over two-dozen offers from the nation’s best football program. Oh, and he’s the teammate of the No. 1 running back recruit in the country.Five-star running back Zachary Evans revealed his top five schools list earlier this spring and had the Crimson Tide on the list. That should make Alabama fans happy, but this next bit of news will surely make Crimson Tide fans smile. According to a recent report by 247Sports, Evans said he and George are a “package deal.” However, those comments came before George’s commitment to Nick Saban and company. From the report:Evans reiterated that last week in an in-depth interview with 247Sports. Asked if he and George, who had not yet committed to Alabama, planned to play together in college, Evans said: “Yeah. We’re a package deal.”The report notes that many teammates leaving high school have the dream of playing together at the collegiate level – but sometimes it doesn’t work out.It seems Evans and George are willing to make it work, though. That could be huge news for the Crimson Tide.Stay tuned.
