Hittner and Rhine Garner CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

first_img Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) and Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) of the Drake University women’s basketball team have been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 6 First Team, the organization announced Thursday, Feb. 21. The Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Academic All-District Lists COSIDA Release Story Links Hittner, who holds a 3.96 cumulative grade point average in marketing, is leading the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring at 19.8 points per game. Her name is among the MVC leaders in several other statistical categories, including three-point percentage (42.7, 2nd), free throw percentage (81.0, 5th), field goal percentage (48.5, 6th) and rebounding (4.9, T-15th). This is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor for Hittner, who last season was named to the 2018 All-MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team and is a five-time MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honoree. Rhine, who owns a 4.00 GPA in elementary education, is a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for the second-straight season. Last season, Rhine, who was the 2018 MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team accolades. On the court this year, Rhine ranks second in the MVC behind Hittner in scoring at 19.3 points per game. She leads the league in field goal percentage at 60.6 and ranks second in rebounding at 8.4. To qualify for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a nominee must hold a cumulative 3.30 grade point average, must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in March.  Print Friendly Versionlast_img
